Marisa Gerken, PLMFT
E3 Lake St. Louis
Marisa is not working for E3 just yet, but will be very soon! Be watching our page for an announcement on when she will officially be seeing clients. She is finishing up the last little bit of supervised therapeutic experience that she needs in order to hold a license in Missouri, and then she will be a fully licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).
We are so very excited for her to join us, and can assure you that she will be worth the wait!
Hello there! My name is Marisa and I live in Lake Saint Louis with my roommate and our blended furry family of 5 cats. I have a passion for helping people learn how to help themselves. I received my Bachelors of Psychology from Saint Louis University and my Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy, specializing in Play Therapy, from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. I strongly align with the core beliefs of the Systemic training I have studied because in order to make healthy changes actually last, it is necessary to understand the environmental and interpersonal contexts of influence as well as the individual's growing opportunities to optimize therapeutic progress very collaboratively.
I strive to help individuals with goals for personal growth, maintaining healthy self-care, and to establish higher quality of life and improved wellbeing. I believe ideal clients are open-minded to gain understanding of the world they live in and to obtain a heightened sense of awareness of the role they play in their life. I believe individuals are equipped with the internal resources necessary for optimal functionality and it is just a matter of unlocking barriers to meet one's full potential. I believe my greatest strength is attuning to clients because my first priority is to genuinely get to know my client which allows me to effectively help clients learn to help themselves.
Living in the world today can be incredibly challenging and humans are wired to need emotional support to optimize functionality. I strongly believe people are inherently good, and mistakes are learning opportunities that can foster growth, compassion, and kindness when channeled in healthy ways. I do not judge and would love to help you to achieve more secure clarity in your life. Growth can be unlocked, Loving Acceptance is key.
*Please note that Marisa is NOT seeing clients at E3 just yet. She is finishing up the hours needed to complete supervision, and once those are complete, she will be ready to work with you and your family! And I can assure you - she will be WORTH THE WAIT!
